What Data We Collect:
To participate in Global Wastewater Day, we collect and process the following categories of personal data:
- Identity and Contact Data: Your name, email address, and in some cases mobile/WhatsApp number.
- Communication Data: The contents of your messages to help us deliver our initiative and to facilitate in your participation
Why We Collect It and Our Lawful Basis:
We gather this data for the following purposes:
- To participate in Global Wastewater Day
- To help us deliver our initiative with you and to facilitate in your participation
Third-Party Processors and Data Sharing
To provide these communication services, Bangor University uses third-party platforms:
- Microsoft 365
Data Retention and Anonymisation
- We only retain your personal data for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in Global Wastewater Day.
- After a maximum period of 365 days from the date of your last interaction, your personal information (including your name, contact details, will be permanently deleted from our system.
- We may retain fully anonymised data (such as geographical areas, numbers of participants and statistical trends) beyond this 365-day period for reporting and service improvement purposes. Because this data is completely stripped of personal identifiers and can no longer be linked to you, it is no longer considered personal data under the UK GDPR.
Your Data Protection Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request rectification of inaccurate data.
- Request erasure of your data (where applicable).
- Restrict or object to our processing of your data.
